January Showcase &Dance Camp
January 15-17th
The January Showcase/ Dance Camp held at the Sheraton-Bradley International Airport is a must for anyone looking to improve their dancing. This event gives you the opportunity to get feedback on the dances you have been studying by world famous coaches. The weekend will also be filled with an array of master classes to help fine tune your skill and learn some new and exciting dance moves, technique and choreography in a relaxed setting.

Mini Check-Out
Friday, February 12th
What is Check-out? Because Arthur Murray Dance studio is closely related to grammar school, high school and college, it would only seem natural that students graduate from level to level. In school you do homework, take exams, write papers and eventually, graduate and move into your next year of school. Checkout is much the same. Students work toward a certain level of dance, checkout of that level and then graduate.
What are the different levels of graduation?
Pre-Bronze (General Variety)
Bronze 1
Bronze 2
Bronze 3
Bronze 4
Full Bronze (Arthur Award)
Silver
Gold
What is the check-out process?
1. Pre-Bronze = any student who is on a general variety program, is only focusing on a few dances, or who is new to the check-out process.
The focus is on 2 dances= Foxtrot & Swing (or any two dances they have been working on)
Students must demonstrate (alone) school figures 1, 2 & 3 of the Bronze 1 syllabus
Students will then have to dance the 2 dances at the In-house “dancing portion” on Friday, February 12th
Students receive a combined score of school figure knowledge and dancing ability
2. Bronze 1=any student on Bronze 1
The focus is on 6 major dances=Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Swing, Rumba & Cha Cha
(You may incorporate an alternate dance)
And so on…..
Latin Night
Friday, February 19th
The Annual Latin Night is an event not to miss. The party will include plenty of food, beverages and of course…a lot of Latin dancing. The best part is the LIVE LATIN BAND!! Latin night is going to be held at the Glastonbury Arthur Murray. Our sister studios will be joining us for this wonderful party!! So, get your dancing shoes ready and come dance the night away.
Dress Rehearsal
Saturday, March 27th
Dress Rehearsal, held at the Glastonbury studio, is a fun day that serves multifarious purposes. It gives all students (from those preparing routines for the April showcase, to anyone working on a spotlight dance or solo, to Bronze dancers getting comfortable with new amalgamations and newcomers getting ready to show off their first dance moves at a social event or club) a chance to gain confidence on the dance floor.
Each student participating will receive a video of their dances, with a voice over of the judge, who will be giving feedback and tips for each dance entered. This way, students have a tape of their own performance and helpful advice to guide them toward their dance goals. It’s a terrific chance to cheer on and help inspire your fellow “studio family” members!!
Mystic Showcase
April 16th-17th
The April showcase is a three day event held in the beautiful Mystic Marriot. It is essentially a mini “dance vacation” that includes a cozy weekend get-away, participating and/or observing all levels of ballroom competition, formal dinners, cocktail parties, professional dance exhibitions, lots of social dancing, and a great time socializing with all your studio peers and teachers.
West Hartford Symphony Orchestra
Saturday April 24th
Supporting the arts is something that is very important to all of us. Arthur Murray Dance Studio is happy to be supporting such a worthwhile cause. This April, we are part of a benefit that is a fundraiser for this volunteer group of citizens from the West Hartford area that give their time throughout the year to perform. The event is a dinner dance with live orchestra music and a few special performances. Feel free to come and join us for what promises to be a fantastic night of dancing and good times.
Spring Festival
May 4th-June 13th
This is a busy and fun time of year in the studio. Two times a year, Arthur Murray Dance Studios from around the world participate in an International Arthur Murray contest, which recognizes instructors and studios for outstanding performance. It is a competition based on how instructors rate for the level of excellence of their teaching, how much activity is generated in the studio (private lessons, groups, practices) and the amount of support you, our students show in the studio. You can become a part of this 6 week contest, twice a year by sponsoring your teacher. By becoming a sponsor you will join us for 6 weeks of parties, events and the chance to be one of our top students, by accumulating the most points!! The more you’re involved in the studio, the more your teacher gains points and recognition and most importantly….. YOU our wonderful student(s) will continue to gain momentum and excellence in your dancing.

Medal Ball

This is an elegant black-tie affair held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cromwell, Connecticut. It is held to honor our students as they graduate out of their dancing level. Pull out those dressy outfits and get decked out for some dining and dancing.
Boston Dance-o-Rama
June 10th-12th
Sheraton Boston Hotel
Mark your calendars for this first ever Arthur Murray Showcase held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in the heart of Boston! Showcase your dancing and routines, as well as supporting fellow Arthur Murray students from all over the world!
This Dance-O-Rama is an excellent opportunity to enhance your dancing goals while also visiting Boston’s many historical monuments and sites! See Bean town at its finest during your dancing summer destination!
Annual BBQ
Friday, June 18th
Hotdogs and hamburgers anyone!! Bring your dancing shoes and your appetite! The annual backyard barbeque, held at the Glastonbury studio is a chance to join friends for a casual night of dancing and mingling. This party is a great opportunity to use your dancing at a truly social event.
Beach Ball
Sunday, July 11th
Beach Ball is a great opportunity to spend a day at the beach for a fun-filled day of social dancing with fellow Arthur Murray students! This is a chance to wine, dine, and encourage your friends during their solo routines and group formations. Break out that spotlight you’ve been working on, pick out your favorite outfit, and grab your dancing shoes!!! It is held beach side at the Port-n-Starboard at Ocean Beach, in New London **Semi-Formal Event**
August Freestyles
Sunday, August 8th
Join us on a Sunday for a Mini-Showcase!!! Held at the North Haven Holiday Inn., this one-day showcase will include no-frills, no hotel, no dressy dinner….just a fun-filled dancing experience!
The event is open to family, friends, co-workers, and guests. Remember those high-school pep rallies? Well….this event is bigger and better!! Come showcase your own dancing while gaining a huge sense of accomplishment that you can share with everyone. You will have the opportunity to meet and greet students from our sister studios in the area. Make attending this event one of your mid-year dance goals!
“MADD” about Dancing
Friday, October 1st
MADD about Dancing at Mohegan Sun Casino is a “Mothers Against Drunk Driving Benefit”. This is an evening with local celebrities paired with our professional instructors, dancing and having fun. All proceeds from this event go directly to MADD.
October Classic
October 8th-9th
Dance the weekend away at the beautiful CT Convention Center. The Connecticut Classic brings many ballroom students together from around the globe. You will have the chance to dance along-side many students from the Arthur Murray family and beyond.
Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of the formal dinner Saturday night, where you will be entertained by professional dancers as well as, staff performances and social dancing until 2:00 am.
This showcase is open to all levels and is a great goal for the end of the year!! Don’t wait too long to start planning with your instructor in order to make this year the best Connecticut Classic possible!
Superama-Las Vegas!!
October 27th-31st
Arthur Murray’s premier competition has just gotten a little better. For the first time, this international competition will be held at the Wynn Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. A four day event with enough entertainment and competition to last a lifetime, over 60 studios from all over the world come every year to participate in this event. Join the spectacle as Arthur Murray prepares for 100 years.
CT All Stars:

Details to Follow, this is our first time running this event which will help to kick off the Fall Festival and party season. This promises to be a fun social event for students of all levels.

Holiday Ball
Sunday, December 5th
This is the most anticipated event every year. Holiday Ball is our un-official close of the fall festival. It is a gathering of over five studios at the Historic Bond Hotel in Hartford. A formal, black tie event awaits you with and elegant lunch and plenty of dancing over looking Hartford!!
